The RUNDown Volume 2
Welcome to the second edition of the RUNdown. The RUNdown covers what the Koala Clip team has been reading, listening, and digging over the last few weeks.
Listening:
Devon Yanko on Real Talk Radio with Nicole Antoinette - this talk is long but is filled with so many amazing pieces of inspiration. From Devon's Leadville 100 win (on a broken foot no less) to her recovery and so much more. This is a must listen to.
Des Linden on I'll Have Another with Lindsey Hein - Des is one of the most humble and hardest working pros around. Besides being a badass runner, she is real and in this interview gives folks insight into her taking a break from marathoning since Boston '17, why she chose to take on Boston again on '18 and so much good training info. Highly recommend listening to this one.
Tony Robbins The Edge: The Power to Change Your Life Now - I was told of this by a fellow runner and friend Mollie (PieceofCakeRunning) and am still in the process of listening. But so far, while the concepts aren't new, the way he is presenting them are making them land with me. One thing that really has stuck with me is the excuses I'm making and choices I have made that don't line up with what I'm trying to achieve. I definitely think this is worth the $9.99.
Reading:
Allie Kieffer's essay - My Weight Has Nothing to Do with How Good A Runner I am. Amen sister. (And Allie just recently signed on to run with Oiselle. She is racing this weekend in Doha).
Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance: I started this last year and never finished it. Started picking it back up a few weeks ago and really digging the research into mental training and how influential mentality is when running, racing, and training. And have been using effort more for a scale while running rather than what my watch is telling me (here is a great post from Tina Muir on it).
If you need a podcast refresher list of 50 best from The Atlantic.
Digging:
Ink + Volt Planner - I got a physical hard copy planner for 2018 and am so excited about it. The Ink + Volk is a no-fuss, goal oriented layout with enough room to plan, scheme and grow while planning for the immediate and looking to the future.
All Birds Wool Loungers - These shoes are comfy, warm, and holding up well even with the nasty weather we've been having. I would order up 1/2 size though as I think they run a bit small.
-Until next time, Kristina
