In Their Shoes: Lisa C
Q1: Who are you? Describe your work, life, and sport of choice.
My name is Lisa Catton, I am an Area Representative for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in the Philadelphia Metro area. I have been on staff for 10 years! I am a mom to a toddler boy as well as a Portuguese Water Dog named Lola. My husband and I have been married for almost 6 years. I played field hockey in college and found running a few years after college.
Q2: What is your sport of choice? How did you get started with it? Do you compete in races, if so what's your favorite distance?
I’ve been a field hockey player since middle school (soccer player my whole life). I ran on the track teams in middle school and high school to stay in shape. Once I graduated from college and my field hockey career was done I found ways to play in adult leagues but they started to not fit in with my schedule. So I signed up for the Philadelphia Half Marathon in 2012 and the rest is history I fell in love with the sport of running! I love running half marathons whenever I have the chance. I am currently trying to run a half marathon in all 50 states.
Q3: What is your driving force behind your sport?
Running has always been about exercise and staying in shape for me. But now that I am a mom it has become my alone time, a time for me to clear my head of all the junk and bring on the day ahead (I am a morning runner).
Q4: What are three words that people use to describe you?
Determined, Goofy, Organized.
Q5: What is your favorite thing to listen to while working out (music, podcast, audiobook, etc)...or do you prefer to go without headphones?
Once I discovered podcasts I couldn’t stop listening to them on the run! I am obsessed with Ali on the Run, I’ll Have Another, and Up+Running. I occasionally listen to the Another Mother Runner Podcast as well. I run with the best headphones ever, the Aftershokz Aeropex Wireless Headphones!
Q6: What is your favorite meal or recipe?
I love this One Pot Hamburger Helper recipe from the Defined Dish. It’s so easy to make and reheats well for left overs!
Q7: Name a book you recommend to all your friends?
When Less Becomes More by Emily Ley or Grace Not Perfection by Emily Ley – I love both books so much I can’t just pick one! They’ve had a lasting impact on how I live my life as a stay at home working mother.
Q8: What is your secret pleasure TV show to indulge in?
Gilmore Girls! Who doesn’t love this mother daughter duo and their fast paced conversations and coffee addiction!? Sadly it is no longer filming new episodes but I am dying for a second season of the Netflix series Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life Part 2
Q9: Last question - what are your favorite workout shoes?
I have arthritis in my right knee from 3 knee surgeries so the Hoka OneOne Clifton is my go to shoe right now! The cloud feeling cushion has helped me be able to continue running longer distances!
