In their Shoes: Chelsea B.

Q1: Who are you? Describe your work, life, and sport of choice.

I am Chelsea, a hard-working, fun-loving, real AF boss babe, mom, and wife. I am the owner of two small businesses: Your Happy Pace run coaching and Chelsea M Bolles, LMHC-my own solo private mental health practice. I am very passionate about helping others, which is why I became both a licensed mental health therapist and a running coach. I love spending time with my family (pets included) and friends, having fun outdoors, going to DMB shows, and being silly.

Q2: What is your sport of choice? How did you get started with it? Do you compete in races, if so what's your favorite distance?

Running is my sport of choice, with the half marathon distance being my favorite race distance-it is challenging enough to push for a long amount of time, but short enough where training does not take over your entire life. I got started with running when I was younger-I was on soccer teams from 2nd grade through high school, and then I started playing ice hockey for Skidmore when I went there for undergrad. In graduate school, I started a consistent running schedule a few times a week, and began running races in 2010!

Q3: What is your driving force behind your sport?

Running helps me clear my mind and lower my daily anxiety. Even a 10-min run makes me feel a whole lot better! Running also gives me time to myself :-)

Q4: What are three words that people use to describe you?

Compassionate, Enthusiastic, Honest

Q5: What is your favorite thing to listen to while working out (music, podcast, audiobook, etc)...or do you prefer to go without headphones?

I never used to run with headphones, but recently I have been listening to a 90s alternative/hip hop spotify channel when I do. The times I run sans headphones, I focus on running mindfully by listening to nature/cars/footsteps and counting my breath.

Q6: What is your favorite meal or recipe?

I LOVE food, maybe even more than running! My most favorite meal is TACOS! A couple years ago on vacation, I went for a taco PR and ordered them 16 times while we were there!

Q7: Name a book you recommend to all your friends?

I absolutely LOVED The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell by Robert Dugoni. It was so wonderful, and I highly highly recommend it to everyone!

Q8: What is your secret pleasure TV show to indulge in?

Jersey Shore is my #1, with Married at First Sight/The Bachelor as close seconds. The therapist in me loves to watch the interactions/behaviors between the characters!

Q9: Last question - what are your favorite workout shoes?

I really am loving my New Balance 880 v10. I was in Mizuno for years and kept having injuries, but as soon as I switched to NB, they went away!
